Mahogane Reed is an attorney at Steptoe LLP, where she focuses her practice on white-collar defense, investigations, complex litigation, and appeals. Before joining Steptoe, Mahogane worked at the US Department of Justice, where she handled criminal appeals in federal circuit courts across the country. In that role, Mahogane helped devise the government’s positions in Second Amendment litigation and advised US Attorneys' Offices across the country on a variety of complex legal issues. Mahogane previously served as the John Payton Appellate and Supreme Court Advocacy Fellow at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Mahogane is also an adjunct professor at the Georgetown Law Center, where she teaches advanced legal writing.
Before entering practice, Mahogane served as a law clerk for Judge Carl E. Stewart of the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and Judge Brian Jackson of the US District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. Mahogane received her JD and DCL, magna cum laude, from the Paul M. Hebert Law center at Louisiana State University.
