Monica Wharton serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Methodist, where she leads the organization’s daily operations with a sharp focus on improving patient outcomes, driving innovation, boosting organizational efficiency and leading transformative initiatives in digitization and workforce stability. With a unique legal and administrative background, she has held key executive roles at Methodist including EVP & Chief Administrative Officer and SVP & Chief Legal Officer.

Monica began her legal journey as a federal judicial law clerk and has since built an impressive career at the intersection of healthcare, law, and executive leadership. She is a board-certified healthcare management professional and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

A dynamic presence in civic leadership, she serves on national and regional boards including the American Hospital Association and Tennessee Hospital Association, and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and The Links, Inc. Monica lives in Memphis with her husband, attorney Andre’ Wharton, and their three sons.
